Colorado State and coach Jay Norvell are ready to move away from the hype surrounding Colorado State and Dion Sanders.
The Rams will play the Buffaloes on Saturday in a game that will be televised on ESPN, and ESPN and Fox's pregame show will be in Boulder. Colorado State is 2-0 to start the season after wins over TCU and Nebraska and will play in-state rivals Oregon State and USC before opening its Pac-12 schedule.
On his coaches show Wednesday, Norvell said both he and the Colorado players were "tired" of all the attention Sanders and his program had received.
"We had to do a bunch of ESPN videos and that's great, I love them," Norvell said. 'But our kids have really come out of those videos with a chip on their shoulder. They're sick of that stuff. They're really sick of it. And today, sitting down with ESPN, I don't care if they hear it in Boulder or not, I took off my hat, I took off my glasses, and I said, 'When you talk to adults, you take off your hat and glasses. That's what my mother taught me."
"No matter what we said or did, they never liked us. So let's go over there and play. That's how I feel. I'm not trying to hijack the program, but I'm tired of it. I'm tired of those things. I think everyone else is too. So let's go play."
